Nicki Minaj’s fashion world aspirations are finally coming to pass. The musician is hard at work on her own fashion line which, if she gets her way, will debut next year (she says it will be “Harajuku Barbie,” which means we’re in store for a lot of wackiness). Another big coup: Nicki is starring in the new ad campaign for Adidas Originals.
The pairing is kind of perfect. Nicki the Ninja’s wild style might not be the right fit for, say, Giorgio Armani or Calvin Klein, but it’s ideal for Adidas Originals, which has had a long partnership with Nicki’s friend, out-there designer Jeremy Scott.
She appears in the minute-long spot, set to her song “Masquerade,” wearing a long blonde wig, bubblegum pink lipstick, an amazing printed puffer, and a pair of pink Roundhouse sneakers. Nicki shares the spotlight with Scott as well as rapper Big Sean, singer Sky Ferreira, Korean pop group 2NE1, Chicago band Kids These Days and basketball player Derrick Rose, but she really stands out. The hip-hop star has said that Adidas sneakers are her favorite shoes to perform in and now, we’re pretty sure she’ll have an unlimited supply.
