The counter-movement was a valiant one, but ultimately futile—when the powers of The Internet assemble, they will not be denied. Kodiak, Alaska will, as previously projected, be the winning site of the Sheetz and Wal-Mart-sponsored contest to send Mr. 305 to a Wal-Mart of his fans’ choosing. Pitbull’s “fans,” of course, ended up being the population of the Something Awful forum and various other web pranksters, who drove the Kodiak location’s Facebook page to over 71,000 likes, despite the population of the city being just 6,000.
To his credit, however, Pitbull isn’t even mad. “I heard that Kodiak, Alaska, has the most likes due to someone who thinks he was playing a prank,” Mr. Worldwide admitted in a video announcing the contest winner. “But you gotta understand, I’ll go anywhere in the world for my fans.” Well, we never doubted that Pitbull was a pro’s pro, but double respect on him for not calling shenanigans on the whole affair and submitting to the will of The Internet. Think warm thoughts, Pit. We know you always do.
