It’s always a tough 12 months waiting for that next DJ Earworm United State of Pop mashup, and we’re still only halfway there this year. In the meantime, if you need a mashup to remind you of every song that was popular in the last year-plus (we understand, of course), check out this Top 40 blend from Vissagan Gopalakrishnan (of VG Productions, whatever that is). The mix is of disappointingly cynical intent—”I was listening to the radio when I realized I could mix every song I had just heard,” explains Vissagan in the video’s YouTube description. “Pop songs are so replaceable these days…”—but still sounds good, riding that irrepressible “Wild Ones” beat with sections of “We Found Love,” “What Makes You Beautiful” and so many more (yes, including “Call Me Maybe”) fitting snugly around the hook.
Most importantly, it’s got that rush of great pop music. Can’t replace that, Vissagan.
